Women4IT project offers the possibility of a free training programme for 100 women and helps them to find the right digital career

Here at TECH WEEK, we want to encourage women to embrace a career in the DIGITAL sector. With so many possibilities and different opportunities in the field, it can be a bit difficult to choose which path is right for you. This is why our colleagues are working on a new project that will help women to find their true calling in the Digital field.

The project Women4IT is a multi-stakeholder partnership funded by the EEA Grants and the Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment. The project is supported by 9 Partners from across Europe and various sectors. It will be implemented in 7 countries: Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Romania and Spain and supported by two expert partners: The European Centre for Women and Technology and DIGITALEUROPE.

The ambition of the project partners is to develop the digital competences of young women who are at risk of exclusion from the labour market, by improving their employability.

Women4IT aims to raise awareness about the digital skills and the gender gap, and to promote concrete, innovative partnerships and solutions to increase the numbers of EU vulnerable girls and young women into the digital agenda. The aim is to assist one thousand young women (one hundred in Ireland) to take successful steps into digital job-related employment. This is crucial for the European industry to remain competitive in the face of rapid advances by its competitors, and for the European society to remain inclusive in the digital age.

The “Women4IT” project has designed an online employability profiling tool. This tool was created in order to identify the skills, attitudes and experiences of the woman, matching them with 8 job profiles selected for the project. A training roadmap is then defined based on the age, personal goals and education, offering guidelines and objectives to reach in order to complete the training. The employability profiling tool is an online platform that will be available 24/7 from anywhere through any device. This tool kit will be useful for both the women involved in the project and potential employers that wish to fill their IT related jobs. A training roadmap template has been developed to provide an innovative approach to job acquisition and long-term sustainable employment for the targeted young women. It will be adaptable to the learning needs and lifestyle constraints of trainees and can address the specific skills shortages experienced by employers.

The project includes 6 job profiles within the IT and digital sectors to give you a few ideas to start with. These roles are some of the most demanded jobs on the market at present. In fact, employers in the digital field are consistently looking for more professionals as the demand is higher than the supply.
