Virtual National Finals scheduled
We hope you are keeping well in these unusual times.
As a consequence of Covid-19 the National Final of the Scratch Competition 2020 was postponed, earlier this year. We have now re-scheduled it to an online event which will take place on Wednesday 4th November.
10.30-1pm Judging will take place online*
1pm – 2pm Break and judges deliberation
2pm – 3pm Guest speaker and Awards
*We will allocate each project a specific judging slot and will let you know your exact time closer to the event.
The structure of the judging will take the format of an informal chat with two Scratch judges about your project that will last 10-15 mins. Students should be prepared to answer some questions about their project.
Students may prepare 4 x A4 sheets that will help them to describe their project to the judges. They can prepare these using whatever material they like for example, pen and paper, Word, Powerpoint etc.. Ideally they should include the following informationProject Name, Project Team, School, County
- Project Name, Project Team, School, County
- Project Description – Our project is about …..
- Most interesting thing about the project……..
- Next Version – Describe a next version of your project (i.e. how might you improve your project, what might you add to it… etc…)
Students can use both their laptop (share screen) and their 4 x A4 sheets to explain their project.
We suggest students look at the Judges Scoresheet that will be used on the day by all judges to confirm the winners in each category; this may help students in their preparations. The rules for this year if you need a reminder are here.
And with that, here are the 34 finalists at the 2020 Virtual Scratch National Finals:
Note: To clarify, students are allowed to work on their projects and make improvements right up to the 28th October – as we will ask the judges to have a preview look at the projects just before the competition.
