Each class will participate in a Hour of Code with peer learning the main focus. Also there will be a range of digital activities using iPads for all. We aim to do the following activities:
– visits from parents involved in the technology-based careers
– Tech Week classroom activities from 1st to 6th classes
– All classes show and discuss videos including Smart Futures
– Design a poster or Powerpoint to show their learning about technology – competition.
This is a showcase and workshop which is student led.
It will showcase students current work with Raspberry Pi\’s and also allow other studnets to take part in a workshop introducing them to Raspberry pis.
We are really looking forward to Tech Week a Parent who works in EPS water has kindly offered to visit our school and bring VR headsets and AR and QR codes to use, he will discuss the work he does through a presentation and will take a questions and answers session.
We will also get to use our Bee Bots for the first time, the parents association have fundraised six BeeBots and we will use them tech week
Begin a scratch programme in SEN
A two-hour drop in for young people to get their hands on the latest technology and learn how to use it. Aimed at Citywise members in primary school, this event will showcase all the different STEM disciplines we use, aiming to spark an interest in the kids imaginations.

Digital accessibility in Europe is becoming a legal requirement following the EU directive 2016/2102. With this in mind the Erasmus+ Programme, WAMDIA, introduces basic techniques to make digital files and information accessible to everyone.
This workshop for school classes will see primary school children creating circuits and exploring electronics using conducive dough. They will use LEDs, buzzers, motors and switches . Pre-booking required. Available to Primary School Classes (3rd to 6th Class) only.
Pupils from 3rd and 4th class will engage with \’hour of code\’ and work through various activities to explore building blocks of coding. Pupils in 5th and 6th class will explore making an offline website, designing, adding pages and editing.
Design a Poster on the theme \’Women in Tech\’. All entries must be emailed in. You can use whatever app you wish to help you design your poster or if hand drawn you must take a photo of it and attach it to your email entry. Open to Pres wex students only. Prize is a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Closing date is 16th May. Winner announced Friday 17th May

Children will be creating art work using apps on the ipads. They will be using the Colour Alive app to bring their 2D superheroes to life in 4D. They will also record a description of their character.
Older classes will use the NGAkidzone app to look and respond to famous pieces of art and then create their own using the app.
5 Schools in the north east of Cork City are show-casing the work they have been doing in bringing digital learning into the classroom.

A green screen will be set up in a public space in the school. 3rd, 4th and 5th class teachers and students will be invited to observe while 6th class students will demonstrate the use of the Green Screen throughout the day.
Sixth Class will hold a Tech showcase. All students in the school will visit the interactive stalls and get to explore different technologies from green screen to stop motion to VR and AR, CGI, robotics, coding, MakeyMakey, and interactive quizzes.
This activity provides an introduction to the types of coding used in making a website. Using HTML and CSS, you will build a website step-by-step. This workshop is an event of Tech Week 2019 and all participants will receive an official Tech Week Certificate of Completion
